Taipa Auto Spectacular 2013

Category:

The annual Taipa Auto Spectacular was held this year on glorious hot Saturday in early January. Organised by the Far North Vintage Car Club, the event attracts large numbers of all sorts of vehicles, including four members of the Auckland Citroen Car Club, Rosco Pennell, Paul Absolum and Walter Dean, each with their 2CV and Christof Colpi with his BX. Having recently been featured in the January Classic Car Magazine, the Absolum and Pennell 2CVs drew a lot of attention from the knowledgeable crowd.

The Citroen Car Club was proud to display Paul and Melean Absolum’s (now famous!) yellow 2CV, Bill Hill’s 2008 C5, Walter Dean’s tidy and shiny 1971 D Super, Peter Cooper’s very yellow Mehari, Christof Colpi’s luxurious white 1954 Big 15 and Alan Poole’s very shiny turbo diesel 1997 XM.

Tricoleur Trophy Gymkhana 2013

Category:

The annual Tricoleur Trophy was held this year at the Penny’s farm in Weranui Road, near Waiwera. A small but competitive group of Peugeot and Citroen enthusiasts pitted their driving skills against the clock and each other in a series of four events. Each person was allowed two turns at each of the four events, and the best of each turn counted towards the score. Points were also awarded to the club members who acted as marshalls for the events and to attendees.

Paddle-boat Ride at Mangakino

Sunday 17th March 2013

Meet at Mamaku Blueberry Farm at 10:00am, directions below.

The convoy will then proceed via undiscovered country roads to Tokoroa and on to Mangakino where we join the Paddle-boat for a 2 hour voyage starting at approximately 1:30pm. Estimated cost is $25 per head. Best to bring your own lunch as I understand it.

At the end of the voyage there is an opportunity for afternoon tea before heading back to Auckland possibly via Te Awamutu and Pirongia.

It should be a very interesting day.

Coupe Replica

Category:

We have received some photos of a beautiful 1939 B15 Coupe which was created by Dave taylor from Wanganui using a 1954 B15 saloon as a donor vehicle.Dave had to make up a new bonnet, doors and a complete new dashboard as well as obtain authentic body and door fittings from that year. These are very rare cars with only four believed to be in existence. He also made a couple of D series Decapotables but they were never completed. One of them exists in Wattle Downs, still unfinished.Although not a current club member, Dave drives a smart looking black series 2 CX Estate and has been interested in and working on Citroens for a long time. Changes to the System

Category:

Welcome to the start (albeit shakey) of a new means of communication for the club. I have been newsletter editor for the last five or so years and whilst I have enjoyed producing the end product the time spent compiling the newsletter, sending the file to the printer then retrieving and posting them out has taken far more spare time than I have had available. I would like to thank those who have helped me in this, in particular Melean who as chief proof reader and PDF compiler has ensured that you received your mail remotely on time. Thanks also to Bill for taking over while we did our Sth American thing.

The new Website will improve over the next few weeks as I gain new skills and add content at a steady rate, so please bear with me as this happens.
